TikTok, the go-to app for short and snappy videos, is changing things up, and your favorite videos are about to get longer. Wondering why this is happening? Let’s break it down in simple terms and reveal how it affects the people making these videos.
TikTok has been famous for its quick videos, but now, that’s changing. It’s all because the Creator Fund is saying goodbye. It will be replaced by something called the Creativity Program Beta, and this shift is happening on December 16, 2023. What’s the main difference? Well, videos are going to be longer, and that’s pretty exciting!
The Creator Fund was a way for TikTok creators to make money. But the new Creativity Program Beta is here to take its place. The cool thing is that it offers creators the chance to make up to 20 times more money than before. But, and here’s the catch, this extra cash is only for videos that are longer than one minute.
Why is TikTok making this change? It turns out that more than 50% of TikTok users now spend their time watching videos that are longer than a minute. So, TikTok is simply giving people more of what they enjoy.
Now, who gets to be part of this Creativity Program Beta? Well, there are a few requirements. You need to have a TikTok account based in the United States, be at least 18 years old, have at least 10,000 followers, and get at least 100,000 video views in the last month.
If you decide to jump into the Creativity Program Beta, there’s one thing you need to know – you can’t go back to the Creator Fund. It’s a one-way street.
TikTok has also introduced something called RPM or Revenue Per Mille. It’s a way for creators to earn money based on every 1,000 views. But there’s a twist – viewers have to watch for a certain amount of time for it to count. For example, if your RPM was £0.20, and you got 100,000 views, you’d make £20.
One interesting thing about RPMs is that they can go up and down, depending on where the video is being watched. This means creators can have more control over what they earn.
TikTok is all about evolving and keeping up with what people like. So, be ready for longer and more engaging videos, and creators getting a chance to make even more money. It’s all part of the fun on TikTok!
